well, today I found out that 2 Korean teachers and the foreign teacher who sits next to me had money stolen from them last night; about 300,000 won total.

anyways they caught the little shit she's 11. the thing that I cant understand is that money is more important than his teachers well being and security, the girl's parents werent even called so he can save "face" whatever that is.

She should have been kicked out of the school forever for stealing from teachers, but the director doesnt want to call her parents becasue he's affraid they will take her out of the school and be angry for him accusing her, even though she admitted it and had the money with her. Ummmm what?

Korean "culture" will never make sence to me and I stopped tyring to understand it.

It is a very sad fact that they would rather protect the interests of the thief than that of the victims. I have seen similar instances where teachers had their wallets and purses put into urinals and when we caught the culprits, the director's response was to make good the losses and then chastise the boys and let them go on their merry way. Beats kids with a stick for damaging school property, pats them on the head for vandalising teachers' property. Smile

If your school takes in tuition money in envelopes of cash, your wonjangnim will probably get ripped off once your thief figures out where the BIG money is, and it'll serve him right for being so shortsighted and greedy.

This actually happened at my school. The ten-year-old thief managed to make off with over W700,000 in tuition money before she got figured out and kicked out.

Im sure she planned it the timing and everything. she did it when the korean teachers where having dinner and she knew they all go to the other side of the staff room when they eat, she's not stupid for 11, i hope she does steal from the director

At my last hogwan, a student lost it and went after one of the foriegn teachers with a chair. The director wouldn't do anything because this kid had a little brother in kindy there, and didn't want to loose both kids. The foriegn teachers all got together and threatened to walk out if the kid wasn't kicked out. And it worked. It wouldn't have been much of a loss if won jang nim had called our bluff; it was a crap job.

Despite what the man wants you to think, you do have a certain amount of power in the work place, and sometimes you need to excercise that.

At my school if a kid was caught stealing from a teacher, they'd be expelled. No questions asked.
