I am re-signing a new contract with EPIK this December. I will be staying at the same high school. If I re-sign in December, do I go to immigration to get my E2 Visa renewed and since it is December, 2010 I will not have to submint a FBI criminal background check? It appears that the new requirements are a little confusing and just trying to get some clairification on this issue.

Thanks!

You will need:

1. A new, notarized CRC (federal level)

2. Another medical check

3. All of the forms from your school (business license, other bs papers re: renewing for a year), the app, ARC, etc...

You take it all in to Immi with the new contract, wait about 15 minutes and the back of your ARC is stamped.

So, for RENEWALS at the SAME SCHOOL, ANOTHER MEDICAL CHECK? Are you sure? I don't think so.

I went on the Immigration website and read the new rules. It stated that if you were here before July 2009, that the new rules did not apply. So I called to question what was written and they told me that if I was renewing at the same school with no changes being made to my Visa and this is my 3rd year at that school, that all I would need is my new contract and the basics, they are not requiring the federal level background check for renewals until 2012 for those teachers in this particular circumstance. I also read on Dave's website, two other people who are in the same circumstance and they were told the same thing by Immigration. I think we will still need the medical check though...

Well, another medical check just so I can renew at the same school is news to me. I haven't heard anything about having to have another medical check for a renewal. This is REALLY getting nutty.

I am not sure about the medical check, to be honest, I didn't think to ask. Usu.ally, my school does one for medical insurance purposes. I'd call Immigration and ask if you really want to know.

I can confirm this. My high school admin contacted immigration this week and the official said that E2 teachers re-signing do not need to follow the new procedures for degrees or background checks for another year.
I was also told that by my administrator. I renew in April. But I will need it next yr.

Me, too. My coworker renewed last week and did NOT need the new docs...now I will be going to renew.
