I'm looking for one of these
It's a pipe/metal/wiring detector.
I can buy one in Euljiro for 75k, but I only need to know where the wiring is in one wall to put up some shelves so that seems excessive.
Anyone know where I can rent something like this. |

Take an educated guess? I know this is going to be so far from the Korean situation, but in the UK wiring runs have to run horizontal or parallel so as long as there is no socket underneath where you want you're shelf it'll be all gravy.
Plus your house might be concrete anyway so it'll be full of steel setting of that detector!
Post a pic of the wall, maybe others can offer advice
I love DIY, and miss not doing it in Korea hence the enthusiasm here
Does that mean you own a drill already? Awesome... |

Yeah, I reckon that's what it will come down to, but what I've seen so far of building in Korea doesn't guarantee that common sense was used in this house's construction.
If you want to build something, check out this place.
Which is the area around Euljiro 4-ga.
One of my projects right now is mapping this area. You can find EVERYTHING here, but it is a maze, and finding something specific can be a nightmare.
I brought my tools over. I have 2 drills (1 battery operated, one plugs into the wall), a jigsaw, a sander and any number of non-electric power tools. |
