just heads up if anyone has this prob..very easy solution. the usb socket can get dust in if u keep the slider open like i did. it was just some connection issue because of dust/dirt.
btw the dude at the samsung service centre said 2.3 definitely wont come out on galaxy s because it has specifications for bigger screens. not too sure about that myself because google said gingerbread wasnt really for tablets but honeycomb would be designed with bigger screens in mind. |

This is BS. Someone who works at Samsung should know better than to say something that is blatently false to a customer, or even speculate about something he clearly doesn't know about. There's nothing about 2.3 in the spec that requires a larger screen or greater resolution.
Actually if rumours are true, the Nexus S (made by Samsung) will feature exactly the same super amoled screen that's in the Galaxy S and it will be running Android 2.3.
Also honeycomb is being designed to work with Tablets better, but it's not tablet-only and it won't only support phones with giant screens. This line of thinking goes against everything Android stands for. |

| thats good to know...was surprising to me but figured he must be privvy to some insider knowledge. he seemed like such a lovely trustworthy guy too. now i see him him for the monster he really is. |

It works fine for me. I'm on the latest updated version of 2.3 |

2.3? 1.0.0.614 is the latest version according to my phone and market
skype has been working fine for me...its not the best but adequate call quality. waiting for viber to come out. |

Appbrain has completely tossed the "install" option out and is replaced by "share". I also have a "Market" option which takes me to the Android market where the apps i want usually aren't located...

What's the word on rooting since z4root is gone from the market? I would like to get the market enabler. I had to ditch appbrain because i have the updated version of the actual market that doesn't accept the fast web installer app from appbrain.
Mymarket still won't download apps so i've resorted to torrents and rapidshare-type downloads for games. |

I had my Galaxy Tab rooted with the Z4 mod for a couple weeks now. I just upgraded with Kies to the new firmware and lost the root. I
tried to use Z4 mod again to reroot, but everytime I try, it gets to "acquiring root shell" then auto closes. Any idea what is going on? Anyone else have this problem?
I don't know what information is needed, but in my phone settings I see....

You can try going to http://www.applanet.net/ and downloading their app. It allows you to access a "black" market with all apps for "free" if you don't have any problems with that. I was able to get z4root and OCLF there without any problems. |
