I'm growing a beard now. I like it but it's annoying at the hagwon. There's npt a songle kid who doesn't comment on it once or twice during the day.

First come the comments... then comes the incessant (sp?) tugging on the beard and that gets real old real fast. I'm still not shaving though...

hagwons dont generally care as long as u r smart. Besides you are just a 'Clown' that is there for the year (not u personally; all Hagwon teachers) so chill it, bro!

Teach adults, its way better. You actually get to see some progress also Wink

Average Hagwon student: 'Hey, look at that waygook mo' fo'! Lets touch the hair on his arm, poke him in the ass and generally see if he can make us laugh Twisted Evil

Average adult student (female): 'im gonna tease him and stare into his eyes and look way sexy!' Dig it Wink

I hate my hair. It's fucked up beyond belief and I have no choice but to keep it pretty short, but not too short. With a double crown and cowlicks everywhere I look like a freak with anything longer than a few inches.

Long hair looks rediculous on men in my opinion. Goatees (aka Jail Pu$$y) went out of fashion in the mid 1990's and pony tails should be best left in the 80's.

I hate shaving as much as the next man but that's no excuse to look like a slob.

So any man that has a beard is a slob? I keep my beard trimmed and neat, except when I'm on vacation (I'll admit it gets a bit scruffy then). I ain't the snazziest lookin' guy out there, but it's not like I'm walking around with 4 days worth of growth cause I'm too lazy to shave....

Had short hair all of my life. Hate it now and sure wish long hair was more common than it is, especially in Korea. Going to Japan for a visa run really made me appreciate long hair since a lot of Japanese guys seemed to have what I would call early 80s surfer hairstyles. Short hair looks...well, boring and so conformist. I remember when short hair along with the generation-X look became stylish in the 90s. It was like someone put creativity in a coffin and nailed it shut. Man, even the music sucked more than ever. Korean males with long hair tend to generally be more interesting, at least the ones that I've met. I often am reminded of the famous Weeble Wabble toys in the early 70s when I see a bunch of people with short hair. The same goes for people with short hair at a rock concert. I've gotten nothing but compliments about my long hair but strange stairs back home where conformity can be worse in many ways than in Korea. Strangely (or maybe not so strange), but I've had more opportunities now than every before. And people still think I'm 20 to 25 years younger than I really am! Maybe the long hair has something to do with it.

Funny, someone said that long hair looks so homo but if you've ever been to West Hollywood or even in some of the sections in Montreal where homosexauls hang out, you'll see quite the opposite.

True.

Longhair means different things in different places. It can be creativity, artistic-nature, hippy ideals, extensive drug usage, musician, hick, whatever you want, etc.. all kinds of different meanings.

I keep short hair now and probably will for a long long time to come. Dating-wise short hair is best. Can attract all kinds of woman I might not have otherwise. The mind is still the same.

Funny but the opposite is completely true for me. Several have told me that my hair is "becoming of me".

My success with women has also been in direct proprtion to the length of my hair.

I had long hair for 12 years and finally cut it last August because I had forgotten what short hair felt like. I was also on an island on vacation when one morning some friends came over to the hotel early and woke me up saying let's go, let's go and I had to take a shower. Only cold water came out though and it wasn't very much fun; I had decided to cut it some time before that but because of the annoying shower I decided to cut it that day.
I want to swim more this summer; that's another reason why I cut the hair. Mostly for practical reasons.

i grew my hair for ten years and loved it - i never had any problems getting work here in seoul. but after i cut it short, it's like a whole new world of opportunities opened up before me. girls, adjummas, pretty much all koreans were friendlier to me. i was even able to get out of teaching and started working for a company. however, i do from time to time miss being a bit different looking from the average joe.
