Also, I just thought of good movie/bad soundtrack. "Lord of the Flies.". It was just drums, as I remember. And lots of them.

AKIRA.
I liked the movie, but it was incoherent.
The soundtrack is incredible.

ESL Milk,

I agree that the music in Watchmen was fairly generic. I loved the rest of it, though. I didn't read the book, but I've always heard the hardcore fans thought pretty well of the movie. But I respect your opinion, my good man.

Ha... I watched Conan The Barbarian the other day. A guilty pleasure. Good stuff. And yeah... good music- didn't really notice that. That ominous drums/horns/battle cry... good s hit.

Milk, you mentioned The Shining... I don't remember its music very well, but Kubrick uses music (classical or whatever its proper sub genres) SO well in Barry Lyndon, which is easily my favorite movie of his and so, so underrated.

Hmmm... I haven't heard that at all... but I guess it depends on what you liked most about the comic, and how you pictured it all in your head.

For the record, I think it could have been worse, and there's no doubt in my mind that the filmmakers thought they were being uncompromising... but
I just wish that they had been smarter about it.

I agree that Watchmen the film was nowhere near as good as the graphic novel, lacked subtlety at times and the ending didn't have the same punch. I still think Rorschach was brilliantly realised, so for his performance alone I think the movie is well above average but for those of us who love the original it's obviously still a let down.

Btw, guys, that aussie flick you're talking about is called "The Proposition", not "The Proposal". One of my fave Australian films too. Actually, I've really fallen in love with the Western genre in recent years, can't wait for the new "True Grit" to come out.

Cragesmure, have you heard about "Red Hill"? It's a new Aussie western coming out starring Ryan Kwanten. It's got a modern setting, but seems to be in the vein of "The Proposition".

Right you are, Johnny. My bad.
No, I hadn't heard of Red Hill. I'll keep my eyes (uh, torrent) open for it. Cheers, mate.

Oops- yes, The Proposition.

Honestly, you guys seem to be so into the novel Watchmen that I doubt there was any way to please you to begin with. I've met your kind before...!

I didn't love Where the Wild Things Are... didn't hate it either. But the soundtrack is amazing.
