Hi everyone, I've been dating a Korean girl for about one year. She's beautiful and I love her for her mind, regardless of how she looks. Having said that..

I noticed that she has very thin subtle lines on her eyelids -- I can only really notice them when her eyes are closed. I don't know if they're wrinkles or scars. She does in fact have a bit of a 'double' eyelid. I casually asked to see her pre-university photos (from high & middle school, childhood, etc. I asked because I love this girl, not because I want to verify anything) but she makes excuses and refuses.

I asked her outright if she had this funny Korean eye surgery. She denied it and became upset and a little angry. My question is, if she loves me and it's apparently not a big deal, why won't she show me her high school photos? She gets very defensive: "Aishee..why do you want to see them?!" I love her to pieces, but I get the feeling she's hiding something. I told her that it's not unreasonable for me to request her childhood photos, because I may marry this girl and I'm curious about how the woman I love looked as a child. Am I wrong?

I hate to say I don't trust her, because I do, and I don't want to make her feel bad, but I want to know the truth. I feel like she's hiding something.

Seems like she is anxious for your not to see those photos. She probably used to be a guy.

So to answer your question; yes, yes he has. Lots

Have you met her mother? Tell her mom that she must have been a really cute baby and see if she doesn't bust out the brag book in no time! After all, what kind of mother isn't proud of her beautiful babies?

Don't be silly. She's a girl. I should also add that she has the double eyelid wrinkle that Koreans claim is beautiful, but not big bulbous ones. They're small, refined and more 'natural' looking. (She claims they're natural) I don't know what to think!

I'm not making a big deal out of it; she is. I told her I don't care if she had surgery. Also, another big deal is that it's abnormal for someone to vehemently refuse to show their childhood photos to their spouse; someone they are supposed to trust unconditionally. Something is amiss.

Yes, I know the mother very well. Good idea Illysook; I'll broach the subject with her.

If she's anything like my gf, she's probably very self-conscious and the fact that you keep probing her to find out is why she gets on the defensive

Who cares if she's had surgery or what she looked like when she was younger? It's not really any of your business. If she doesn't want to talk about it, that's her right. It's not like she used to be a lady of the night and has some horrible disease that burns the crotch out of every pair of panties she owns. Now that would be your business.

Yeah she probably had the eyelid surgery. I heard that some 70% of Korean women have had the eyelid surgery, and most of the other 30% have the "double eyelid" naturally.

She may have also had a nosejob or any number of other types of work done. But the eyelid thing is by far the most common.

Plastic surgery is just a fact of Korean women, if you're not OK with it then you shouldn't date them.

Since far from 100% of Korean women have "double" (I always picture some freaky mutant with two sets of eyelids when I hear this) eyelids, this is obviously bunk.

To the OP:

1. Little white lines, possibly scars.
2. Won't show you old photos.
3. Gets defensive when you mention surgery.

Unless you're misrepresenting her case, I'd say she had surgery.

Does it really matter? Just drop it, and give her a break. If you really care that much, maybe she should be dumping you.

who gives a flying f아k? I would be defensive too if someone constantly kept asking to see my photos and didn't wanna show them. if you can't trust her because she doesn't wanna show you HER photos, hmmmm.... you need to relax about it... i'm sure it is nothing.. or she could have been a fatty

Many Koreans of a certain age just dont have any photos from their youth. Owning a camera or getting photos done was too expensive for many people.
