Hi everybody,

I got accepted for the Feb 2011 intake for EPIK and was wondering how the salary and allowance etc works. Do I have to bring money with me or can I get by on the allowance they give me?

Thanks in advance.

Bring money with you, because you won't get that allowance right away, possibly not until your first paycheck a month after you arrive.

I got my 300,000 in cash the first night I got there. But I've heard recently that they only do bank deposit now.

If I were you I'd bring at least 500,000, preferably a million to be safe.

Definetely bring money with you.

They should give you your money within the first two weeks. But don't count on it all the time. With out a doubt do not count on them handing you an envelope with 300,000 when they show you your apartment. That is the exception, not the norm.

You'll probably want to bring about 1,000,000 with you. You can easily get by on much less, but you don't want to be a burden on any of your coworkers or new friends if something comes up suddenly.

Welcome to Korea!

Do they still have the Orientations at KNUE?
Do people still get drunk at The Black and White Pub.

You'll need at least 500 dollars. The first month is usually a blast.
