I went to Homeplus yesterday and, underneath the icky powdered soups, on the bottom shelf (of course) I found it. Tesco's own tomato basil soup. It comes in a pouch, but is liquid.
This was in the Incheon, Ganseok Homeplus, but you should keep an eye at at yours if you're keen. |

Is it the Finest range stuff? Normally I just make my own tomato basil soup, but it'd be much easier just to buy it ready made. Now, I'd be a happy man if they would only introduce Baxter's lentil and bacon to their range.... |

I tried the soup this evening. It wasn't amazing, but it'll do on a cold winter's eve when I'm out of my homemade then frozen french onion soup.
Honestly, I'd prefer Campbell's when it comes to this comfort food. Then I could doctor it up myself with zachug (a Yemenite spice).
Still, it's a start. I don't make tomato soup because I make tomato sauce. Weird logic, but there you are. |

Hey did anyone else notice that their sunblush tomato basil soup or whatever mysteriously disappeared from the shelves of Homeplus? I've been looking all over the store but I can't find it anywhere!
The powdered soup section has never felt so disappointing. |

I found Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup at HomePlus two day ago! It's so nice to not have to go all the way to Seoul for my favorite comfort food for when I'm sick. I go to the HomePlus in Ingye-dong, Suwon, btw. |

I've met some older Koreans who know and enjoy Campbell's soups. It must have been one of the US Army staples back in the day.
How much was it? |

If I remember correctly, it was expensive compared to back home, I think over 4,000 won per medium-sized can. |

There's a bunch of full sized Cambell's Soup stuff in COEX at the import foods shop. I saw Cream of Potato, Clam Chowder, Beef Stew, Chicken Noodle, pretty much everything EXCEPT tomato soup, which sux because that's my favorite. |

I found real English Mustard at Homeplus this evening. A sign on the shelf claimed it was 'New'. 1,200 won for a small jar. Anyway, it can't be any worse than that sickly sweet honey mustard crap they sell everywhere.
Sorry for hijacking your thread |

I finally had my Mom ship me some tomato Cup a Soup packets from the US. Not quite the same as Campbell's (which Costco USED to stock many moons ago!) but still goes well with toasted/grilled cheese on a wet and dreary day! |

Tryin to ration it out of the next couple of years. |

I hate seeing this threads....
The selection at the stores changes on a fairly regular basis, and it's the individual stores, not the chains. I.E. a Homeplus in Incheon might have Tomato soup, but Homeplus in Anyang won't.
If you REALLY want to find a foreign food, do this:
1. Go to Homeplus, Lotte Mart, E-Mart. One of them is bound to have what you're looking for.
2. If not, go to Homeplus, Lotte Mart, E-Mart one city over and try there.
3. If these fail, wait a month and try again.
4. GMarket.
Honestly, every time I see one of these threads, it's usually been about something that has been at one of the three near my house (either where I used to live or where I currently live).
As for the COEX suggestion, if you're talking about the place by Hyundai Department store and On the Border, they haven't carried any selection of Campbells soup for at LEAST 3 months, if not 6-8. They might have a few big cans of the Chunky soups, but standard cans - nope. |

I do not hate seeing these threads. Actually I think it is very good of the OP to give those of us who are interested in finding particular hard to find items a heads up.
Also, your advice is just plain wrong. Yawn. |

Then let's get a sticky to place our info that is only good for a month or two to save space and centralize the "heads ups."
Also, just because you cannot find things by doing a little legwork and going to more than one store doesn't make my advice wrong. I have NEVER had trouble finding ANYTHING that I've wanted. |
