I heard some Korean wives will never show up in front of their husbands without make up.
It's funny though how much we care about our looks, even no one else gives it a dime at all. |

| Isn't it normal for all girls regardless of race to not want to show old plain photos of themselves? It's like being seen naked or without make up...to me sounds a bit hypocritical to say you love her the way she is and don't care if she's had surgery yet you, OP, make a post on Dave's about it and you keep insisting that she's hiding something. Who are you trying to convince really? The whole "not a secret between us" thing might be valid if you were married. But just dating? Come on, you're either naive or stupid. ALWAYS hide some secrets from girls you're dating. Never show all your cards at once. Common sense dude! |
Actually I think you are incorrect. It is not common to not want to show a caring significant other photos of your childhood......unless there is a reason.
The OP's missus is hiding something from him or playing games. If you read the OP correctly you would understand that it is the GF that has the hangup about the eyelids not him. He doesn't care. There could be an entirely different reason she won't show the pictures. But the fact she won't tell him that reason speaks volumes for how low she values the relationship. |

Maybe she was a man?
or really fat?
or really bad acne?
or really really nerdy?
or she was an ugly duckling? |

I am the opposite, I don't usually wear make up and all guys I dated knew what I looked like before dating and accepted my plain face...
But once in a while, I would dress up and change a little bit to look nicer, especially when we went out, guys all have vanity and get excited their women look beautiful in front of others ...
It works a lot better than staying pretty everyday, at least to me.
guys if you love your girlfriends/wives, you should encourage them to not wear too much make up on a daily basis because it does ALOT harm to their skin. The prettier she is everyday now, the more shocking she will look in a couple of years. |

Panda hits the nail on the head (twice). I love a girl that looks natural most of the time, but puts a little effort into looking extra nice when I'm taking her out somewhere extra nice. People are too focussed on looks, especially in Korea. We should focus more on personality and brains, but unfortunately, this society won't allow that anytime soon. |

I noticed Chinese girls tend to do this. Most days just mascara and eyeliner, if anything at all. Full makeup only when we are "going out."
I like it, makes me appreciate it more when she does wear makeup. You should be used to seeing her natural face every day, so then when you do get to see her in full makeup, it's a treat.
As opposed to seeing her all made up every day, and then at night after she takes a shower and removes her makeup, it's "oh god, the horror!!" |

And I read somewhere (eslcafe?) that many Korean husbands can't recognise their wives without make up on).
Also heard, that Korean ladies have so much plastic surgery (face off) that their husbands can't recognise them in childhood photos.
Food for thought, OP. |

I agree with you 100%. I met my husband with only moisturizer and clear lip balm on my face. Sure, I can doll it up a bit if we're going somewhere special, but my eyes look like they're made up naturally (grandma actually licked a napkin to get my "mascara" off because she didn't believe me), so why wear poison every day? |
