| I asked my man about this yesterday (his father works at a university with quite a few foreign teachers). Apparently as long as you have no drug related or sexual offenses on your record, you'll be able to teach in Korea. |

I taught in Korea at a private school in 2008-2009 and at that time all I needed was a Criminal Record Check (CRC) from my local police station.
It was $5.00 and took like 5 minutes to process--no fingerprints needed.
Recently, I have tried to apply to go back but now they are wanting an FBI CRC which means you will need to go to your local State Police office and be fingerprinted and then send it off to the FBI (all at your own expense).
The time it takes to get it back depends on your state but as of this writing, the average is 12 weeks (from the time you send off your fingerprints).
In some of my recent applications, they have been saying that a DUI is considered an serious offense to the Korean Immigration. So in other words, if it may be minor offense in the USA but it is major in the ROK.
So Arson may be a stretch but if you can apply as a Korean I think your chances will be greater. If worse case scenario you can get a tourist visa and do volunteer work in Korea and that is a great way to get cultural experience. |

What if something shows up on a Canadian CRC...oh let's say:
Uttering Threats: acquitted
Not convicted. Does that mean a clean criminal record? Acquitted=innocent? I've passed with it before, but with things becoming more strict... |

I briefly worked with a Gyopo in Korea who was so mentally unscrewed that her class students mutinied and refused to attend until she was replaced.
I've met my fair share of criminally minded, no college degree, degenerate gyopos here....
Sounds like you'll fit right in! |

| You'll be fine. I met these guys from LA that had been stealing and racing hondas for a long time before they came to Korea. They turned to be great teachers, and all had either been continuing their education via distance, or somehow improving their life and their experience. Don't worry about what people here say. You'll be fine if you try. |
