Silver bullion. Best investment for the next decade. Up 70% this alone, still severely undervalued. Hold for 5 years, you can make 10 times your money. |

I thought of silver too. The only question is, what did the OP mean by short term?
But yes austrian is correct to say silver is a great investment short term or long term. I have 3 kg of silver bullion and I wish I bought more instead of putting my money into gold. |

Silver is not a bad bet, but I hope that no one here is going all-in with silver. All commodities are up, especially out on the farm belt. Farmland in Iowa is up by $1000/acre, or about 11%, in the past quarter. Everything else on those acres has increased as well. Wheat, corn, soy, you name it. The rate of increase on ag commodities is increasing at an average rate, depending on who you ask, of 8-11% a qtr (as high as 44% per annum!!). So we're clear, the pundits are attributing this appreciation to Chinese demand because, apparently, our corn and maize is just that good; the Chinese just love our agricultural products that much.
As for myself, I am not in silver, but I'm invested in foreign stocks & currencies. |

Just bought 90kg just under $27. It's not to late to change some gold into silver. I recently sold 40% of my gold to buy silver earlier this month.

I say bet the farm on silver, but then again, I'm a gambler by nature. Also, the silver market is much smaller than the gold market, so prices tend to be more volatile than gold, so those who less risk tolerant, holding gold, silver, paladium, foreign stocks and currencies is the way to go.
Yes you are correct, the price of all commodities are all going up in China and worldwide. This is directly attributable to price inflation that has resulted due to massive dilution of the reserve currency, the US dollar through quantitative easing (money printing). The chinese RMB is also pegged to the Dollar, so essentially China is importing inflation from the US. |

In January, I'm looking to sink +-USD32 000 into Gold and Silver. 50/50. Anyone know whether the prices would be influenced by the upcoming Lunar New Year? It might be a stupid question, but I have read somewhere that during certain months, prices rise and fall respectively, maybe its complete tosh. Could anyone clarify? Thanks |
