Our principal wants to make changes to the standard GEPIK contract for when I re-sign. Is this at all common? I assume it's also allowed, but - is it?

Simply inform them that you are working for GEPIK, not that particular school. On the other hand if these changes benefit you you may want to accept.

In your shoes and assuming these changes are for the worse I would tell them that I work for GEPIK not the school. If they insisted, I'd tell them I've changed my mind about re-signing.

Yes, I was actually hired by directly GEPIK, then assigned to this school (i.e. I never interviewed here, only with GEPIK).

The change seems irrelevant, but I dislike having a non-standard contract.

What are they changing? If it doesn't matter to you but is very important to your principal try to get something that you want too. (Extra vacation days, raise, half days of desk warming, etc...)

It's not they - just the principal. He wants it to state specifically I can be asked to do English-related teaching thingies in the morning (after 8:00), or an after-class, as part of my maximum 22-hours a week. Which is irrelevant, since if he wanted I could be asked to do that anyway given the standard contract- but I believe he's never seen such a contract before and is unaware, or given his personality just wants to "make a change".

If it's something he could have done anyway without the change, see if you can get reduced deskwarming over the break or something else nice as a trade. He's happy, and you luck out. If not, just go for the GEPIK contract or go elsewhere.

If you are scheduled to leave at 4:30 for example. Then anything after 4:30 is extra, no matter how many hours a week you work. Be carfull that he doesn't have you teaching after that time. You will be missing out on the extra pay.
My school has be teaching from 8:00am to 8:50am for a conversation class. They count it has one of my 22 classes. So, I don't extra pay, they have me leaving 30 minutes early.

I had that thought as well about after-class.

The contract still specifies the standard hours (8:00-4:00), as does this new addition we're making sure. In this case, we've determined the change he wants isn't a change at all - he is just unfamiliar with the contract and wanted to feel active. So we're going to essentially copy info from another part, into this area he wants it. Everyone's happy.
