I was going to say check out Dongdaemun myself. I went there with some friends a while back and there were tons of places that had luggage for sell. If you ask you can get a discount. If they're stuck with that number, you can always find someone that wants you to buy their stuff at a more reasonable price. Just look everywhere, honestly. I've only lived in two places so far (Gwangju and Gimhae), but maybe you can try Insadong--it's a great place for touristy stuff---maybe the area has luggage too.
Wish I could be of more help, good luck!

I bought a backpack at Dongdaemun for $50 years back and it was going to pieces after a second time through airport baggage handling. Bought something on sale for twice the amount at a sports shop and it is going strong a dozen trips later. Check out the sales at a shopping mall near you. |

I agree. Luggage is not something you should scrimp on. I bought a cheap suitcase once and it split before I even got to the airport |

If it falls apart, it falls about. Just getting there is the thing. When I comes back, I can just grab something from those great Christmas sales. I was eyeing one the other day. 85% off, Christmas sale & 'Clearance', even though it's just last year's model
I'd have a friend ship it to me but, at 12 lbs the shipping cost alone would be enough to buy a temporary bag here. |
