So, I will be flying out to SK in a few weeks (1 AM day after Christmas), and I obtained my visa with a state issued CBC. I just got charged for the FBI CBC, so it should probably be arriving in a little while (then 3 weeks to get appostile); however, I remember in the recent E2 visa changes, it said something along the lines of "Visa Applications made before 1/1/2011 can still use state issued cbcs, but an FBI CBC must be presented at the next sojourn related event after 1/1/2011." In that case, as I am arriving on the morning of the 27th, does that mean that I have 5 or so days to take the medical test and get my ARC before I need to present the FBI CBC?

I'm confronted with the same question. And from what I can tell it's one of those grey area things that you have to make work for you. Here's my interpretation:

To apply for an e2 visa before 1/1/11 all you need is a local or state CBC. To apply for an ARC all you need is an e2 visa. Insist on the above and maintain solidarity with the rest of us The tensions b/w north and south korea along with increased visa requirements have got to be keeping potential applicants down, while the demand for english continues to rise -- they NEED us!

Be respectful, and let them know that you will get your federal check before your renewal,no ifs ands or buts. Try not to worry.

Cheongju. The main reason I ask is that, from what people say, you need your ARC for a variety of things (obtaining internet service, cell phone, etc.), and I'm worried about internet access in particular (banking, contact at home, etc). On a side note, I suppose, if I DO get my FBI CBC apostilled and sent to me (or if I bring it over) and it is not required for my ARC, can I still submit the document so I don't have to go through with it next year if I decide to continue teaching?
