Does anybody know if these are at all available? I live in Chuncheon so I guess Seoul is my best bet. Any recommendations for where to look?

Just look on their homepage and you'll see locations.

The Victorox company has been branching out into mens & women's wear.

I bought a backpack and garment bag from them in the States and my try their shirts and sweaters which are pretty keen.

Now I'm waiting for them to introduce a line of hikers.

Haha, wow. I was "this close" making a post about this today about the exact same thing. Man, what are the odds?

A student I had last year did a whole Euro trip with her family. When they swung through Swiss she picked me up one of the little key chain swiss army knives. Man, I love this little thing. It gets used on a daily basis. So much so, the little tweezers that fit in the end don't fit snuggly anymore. They've fallen out somewhere, probably gone forever. I looked everywhere for them. I probably used them more than the little scissors even.

So, if anyone knows of a place that sells legitimate knives, not knock offs, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Swiss knives are next to useless and often hazardous to use because the blades don't lock. I'd recommend getting a Gerber or Leatherman. Whatever you get, a locking blade is essential IMO.

I have seen them for sale at the Kyobo bookstore at Gwangwhamun Station (Seoul). They sell them in the same area as the stationary/cell phone cases. They might sell them at other bookstores too but that is just the last place I went for books.

Yea I looked at Amazon because of the quick delivery time and found that some Swiss army knives didn't lock but there were some that did. I didn't realise not all locked so I've been looking out for that.

But according to the site above there's a vendor at a mall I go to regularly. It's a gift and he wants the Swiss stuff so maybe next time the Leatherman Smile

If you are looking for actual Swiss Army look in high end shops like department stores and stationary stories. If you want a cheap very likely made in China find a 1000won store or hardware store and get it there. I have a cheap multifunction one that serves in a pinch.

There is a Knife Museum in Insa-dong. It's not far from the hospital there down a couple blocks on the same side. There is a sign pointing to where it is, it's in an alley just off the main drag. I bought a SOG Power Assist utility knife there about a year ago. They have Swiss, Leatherman and many other kinds of knives there. They are a bit more expensive than what you'd pay back home, tho.

I've only been to Insa-Dong once and that was a long time ago. What hospital is this? How far is this from the subway?

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I have a busy weekend it looks like.

Coming from the side where the Burger King is, it's about 1/2 down the main street on the left side. The sign for the Knife Museum is a block or so further down. It's in the same alley as one of the old hotels there. I don't remember the name, sorry.

Good enough to cut off your own arm Wink .......remember this story anyone?

Hiking his way through a 3-foot-wide section of Utah's Blue John Canyon, Aron Ralston had no warning before the giant boulder shifted onto him, pinning his right arm in a crack in the canyon wall.

He had been stuck for four days when his water ran out. On the sixth day, the 27-year-old mountain climber knew there was only one way he could survive.

Using a pocketknife, Ralston cut off his own arm.
