Hey guys, as someone who's been in the hagwon system for a while, but am considering a position with public school, I have some questions about take-home pay that I thought someone here could answer.

I'm considering a position for 3.5 including housing stipend. How much do you guys pay for medical each month? Pension? And what's your tax rate? I've been doing 3.3% in my time here.

All told, does anyone have an idea what my take-home would be?

Income Tax Withholding Calculator:

http://www.nts.go.kr/eng/help/help_52.asp?top_code=H001&sub_code=HS05&ssub_code=HSE2

You can also find out what you should have been paying for the last three years and figure out how much they gouged from you....

Your share of health insurance and pension are 2.67% and 4.5%, respectively.

Also, check with the pension office and see if your hagwon had even registered you at the proper salary (or at all) or submitted the money they took from you. Likely they didnt/havent and you can file a claim to get your share and their share paid. They will also receive a hefty fine for messing with the system.

I think the housing and salary are taxed seperately. Not lumped together. Though don't quote me on that.

Besides if this is your first time in ps. You've got the tax break for 2 years.
