|
|
I'm moving house within Seoul. I don't have a ton of stuff, but sufficient that moving without a car etc. is a problem. The real problem is my bed and desk. Does anyone know if using a moving company is expensive or which ones are reliable? I'd rent a car or something for a day, but I can't drive...
Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

You have a couple of options here.
The cheapest way to do it would probably be to hire a "Bongo" delivery truck to come pick up and drop off your stuff. You'd be responsible for packing and lifting, though if the guy is nice he might offer to help with the heavy stuff.
Your second option would be "po-jahng ee-sah" which kind of translates to "takeaway movers" who show up and basically crate everything up, carry it, truck it over then unpack it.
If I remember my first move back in 2006 clearly, I think I paid well under 100,000 for a bongo truck to move my stuff from Gyeonggi-do to Sinchon. I think if you did the takeaway option it would probably jump to 150-200,000 won. |

| The bongo sounds like what I am looking for. Do you know any company names? |

Bump.
I'm moving this weekend from Seoul to Gwangju and I'd like to find out how to rent a Bongo tuck/driver. |

You can normally see stickers all over the place advertising these kind of services. Look for something with 이삿짐 on it |

I've recently had experience of this.
Hiring just the truck is considerably cheaper. Depending on how much stuff you have, the full packing and moving service can run anywhere from 300,000 for very little up to a million for a full family home. Of course, distance also factors in...the quotes I was getting were to move from Bucheon to the north of Seoul, a little far.
I live in a two room place and have a fair whack of stuff (bed, wardrobe, washing machine, fridge-freezer, sofa, etc) and ended up paying 470,000 but most of the quotes I got were considerably higher.
If you don't have much stuff, and have a mate or two who can lend you a hand, just go with the bongo truck option. If you have a lot of stuff, or it's going to be a lot of hassle to do it alone, it might be worth paying the extra money...just make sure you ask around as some are much cheaper than others. |

So the 470,000 was hiring just the truck with you and your mates loading/unloading? |
