|
|
Hello,
So I am moving to Korea in February through a placement on the EPIK programme. The agency I did the application with recently sent me an email asking me to obtain a Certificate of Residence (UK citizen here) to avoid double taxation.
What are other peoples experiences with double taxation? I have been getting conflicting information.
Any help is appreciated! |

If you don't get one, you will pay the Korean taxes at the end of the year (December) and it is close to one month's salary. |

So what is the problem? Apply for the Certificate of Residence and there will be no experience with double taxation ... easy. |

So, for instance, I start work with GEPIK in Jan/2011. They won't take out taxes all year, but if I don't furnish the Certificate of Residency by Dec then they will take out taxes for the entire year (kind of like back taxes?)? At the IRS they said they wouldn't process my request for 2011 until Jan 1st, so I'll be in Korea by then, but as long as I furnish the certificate at some point before Dec it's all good? |

My korean taxes are only like 20 bucks a month. I would hope no one here makes 240 dollars a month. |
