Ah. Left that part out! I'm in Daejeon, so much smaller than Seoul (but still quite a few of us teachers here!).

I like it.

I teach solo in the classroom, and do not use the textbook. I work more than most PS teachers, but that gives me some nice overtime pay which is important to me. I'm coming in to work on Saturday this week, and will be teaching 29 hours (so 7 hours overtime at 20,000 an hour).

Not all PS jobs give overtime, but many do. So look at the PS salary as a minimum, because you may get a bit more. In my case, 250-500k a month more (depends on the school schedule).

your lucky Morticae. This is my second year (1 middle and 1 elem in 2 different provinces) but there have been no extra teaching opportunities. Even the school I have now hires an outside company because its probably cheaper.

I'm asking to move to a different school so I can make more money, and if not might go the private route. PS can be a mixed bag and a lot of time it depends on the individual POE/schools etc and even how rich the districts are. Well 1 more year for me here in Korea and I am hoping third time's the charm. Smile

Yes, it's definitely a mixed bag! Good luck next year, hopefully you get a little bit of overtime!

My overtime is nice, because its all within the normal working school hours usually. This Saturday thing is a rare exception, of course. So I'm getting paid extra for time that I would use surfing the net. I can't seem to any serious lesson planning at school because my breaks are sporadic and I need a lengthy period to sit down and focus, so i usually save the lesson planning for home, that is why I surf the internet during my usual breaks.

I will say that Tue/Wed are tiring days for me with 7 classes a day. Mon/Thur are much nicer.
