|
|
I am a korean-american adoptee and I speak enough korean to explain english grammar points or other problems in teaching.
I have 2 years of off and on private teaching and have experience teaching at elementary schools in Japan as a part time job.
I will go to Korea from August and along with a FT job, I would like to get extra cash with privates.
1. How much should I charge? I was thinking 30,000-35,000 per hour or per 50 minutes? (from my experience, an hour lasts forever!!!)
2. How much do you charge for privates and is it relevant to race, background, experience...?
Thanks |

A related question. My friend is Korean, but spent 3 years in the States, so his English is good. Any ideas about how much Korean's charge for privates? (It's legal for them! ) |

Are you sure about that? Isn't it only legal for university students? |

Nope, that law changed a couple of years ago. If Koreans register, claim income and pay taxes it is legal. My wife does it and charges between 40,000 and 50,000 won per hour depending on class size. |

What about someone who is married to a Korean? Can't you just teach together and charge a lot? The Korean is the actual teacher and you just "happen to be there" helping your spouse. |
