having the TESL or TESOLcertification make any difference in one's marketability?
I have a BA in Child & Family studies and am "Highly Qualified" but not "certified" to teach in my state w/13 yrs exp. work w/children-
will it benefit me to get the certification |

If you are ONLY looking at Korea as an ESL teacher then it won't hurt your chances of getting a job and if you head for a public school position it will get you a 100k per month bump in your salary.
If you are looking (or may look) for work outside of Korea it becomes almost a requirement and in some countries you would need some of the more recognized ones (CELTA, Trinity, SIT TESOL) to find work.
Without home country certification your qualifications won't get you much farther than an entry level job in ESL anywhere on the planet - you'll largely be treated like any other generic BA holder.
