We're doing holidays and holiday foods. First we learned about Hanukkah, then Christmas, and next week we're making up our own holidays then decorating cookies and cards to talk about each student's holiday.
The best thing that came out of the holiday lessons was teaching students Christian and Jewish in place of "Jesu people" and "Judai people" Also, cookie decorating. |

Talent contest (girls middle school):
1. Finger-snapping
2. Whistling a melody
3. Stupid human tricks (touch your nose with your tongue, wiggle your ears, doublejointed weirdness, etc)
4. Nicest smile contest
5. Funniest laugh contest
6. Tell a joke
7. Team tongue-twister competition (Six shy Sokcho City sisters sew short silk skirts.)
8. Team Xmas song contest (English or Korean)
Been a funny week. |

| Today I changed it up a bit for one of my 2nd grade classes, and let them do the Shrek the Halls movie/quiz early, since I won't see them again next week. They were just as lethargic watching that as the 2nd grade class before them playing pictionary. I suppose the goof off time of year means extra hours of starcraft even deeper into the night. That's my best guess anyways. |

ive worked in a high school for a couple of years now, and this is exactly on the money. The weekend C.A. club activity is mostly the kids go see a movie and the teacher leaves after showing his face at the group. Our 3rd kids just wander around now, a few come to school to look at ranking papers and such, but basically they just wander around and look at each others haircuts. I love em all to death, but thats it.
why do you think foreigners complain theres not much to do here, if theres nothing to interest the locals, what could be interesting for us here?
i always say theres 5 things to do in K-land: Drink, talk, eat, and go somewhere and do any of these three. Hobbies? not likely.. |
