So I applied for a school because they were looking for a gyopo (which I thought naturally meant F4 visa) however after receiving the contract I found out they want me to go on the E2 visa.

I don't really understand why they are looking for a gyopo who can go on the (F4 visa and its just so much simpler) and specifically want them on the E2 visa???

Is it because with the F4 visa there is too much 'freedom'? And with the E2 they have more 'control'?

I am planning to stay in Korea for at least a couple of years and so going on a E2 visa is really just a hassle for me.

Has anyone heard of this kind of situation before????

Hmmmm....I wouldn't worry about it. Your school isn't going to care what type of visa you have as long as it's a teachable one. The E-2 thing is an automatic response because the majority of teachers are on E-2 visas. The fact that yours says E-2 is most likely chalked up to neglect more than anything. If you are really feeling stressed about it get them to make the changes saying F-4. I personally know a few people working in public on F-4s so public school is most certainly not E-2 exclusive.

Gepik has a standard contract for everyone. You are going to have to discuss this with your school because though you will be working for GEPIK, which assumes you can only get on an e-2, your school wants a gyopo. Your just going to have to discuss the finer details of the contract with your school or the GEPIK higher ups to make it apply to an f4.

I'm surprised EPIK still hires F visas.
