Im the same way OP, and have been my whole life. Unless its about something im reallly interested in, i cant finish it--let alone a few pages in a row. Even if its something im really interested in, if it starts to get boring, ill put it down and never open it again probably. its a form of ADD i think.

I love reading books. I haven't read in a long time on account of not really bringing many (I'm not the sort to read a book twice in the same year, so I figured what was the point). However, my kindle is at my sister's house and once I get my next care package, I'll be right as rain.

(Yes I know I can buy books here, but I perused the shelf and it's mainly boring mainstream stuff or historical or sentimental crap.)

I carry a Nook loaded with books and an iPad loaded with other books with me more or less where ever I go. Modern technology literally allows us to carry around libraries with us and even add to those libraries through 3G internet connections. And thanks to wonderful organizations like Project Gutenberg, even those ethically inclined against internet piracy have access to huge amounts of free quality literature.

Reading is more convenient and more accessible than ever, and needless to say, I do quite a bit of it.

I second Fox, minus the nook, though I'm keen on getting one. My ipad makes downloading books a breeze. Project Gutenberg FTW.

I bought a Kindle in April and now I read more than ever, especially since moving to Korea. I love being able to escape my life and step into another person's. I'm working really hard on catching up on my long list of classics that I've always wanted to read, although right now I'm about halfway through "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader," an absolutely fascinating book about North Korea. It's dense and a bit difficult to read at times, but I've really enjoyed it. Anyway, between my iPod and my Kindle I've always got at least 30 books on me. This makes me a happy camper Smile

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this problem.

I'm telling you, though technology is great, I worry the tweets and FB posts and newsfeeds will create an epidemic of ADD among the youth...but maybe I'm being paranoid.

I read books; it's technology that I have a short attention span for. If it doesn't do what I want it to do within 30 seconds, I run out of patience.

it is a good book that (as are his others including his papers). I downloaded the audiobook and listened to it as I find his voice quite hypnotic.

You need to start a club with Newbie, the girl who thinks carrots are yucky.

I've read a ton of books in my life but my problem lately has been that I've read just about every book that I've wanted to read.

I went to the bookstore in Canada about a month ago. Every other time I went there I could find something in fewer than five minutes that I was really interested in.

This time, I walked around looking at every book in the store for more than an hour and left without buying one because everything that was worth reading in the bookstore was something I had already read and everything else was something I wouldn't read.

The last series of books I really wanted to get into were given to me as a gift earlier this year and I read the whole series (about seven, 500+ page books) in less than a week. Since then I haven't really seen anything I wanted to read.

On another note, I probably read a book's worth of content every few days on the internet Razz

I was recovering after surgery in a TV-less hospital when I read those books that quickly, if it's any consolation. Razz

I think I've been trying to read the wrong things. My (self-assigned) homework over Christmas break is to read one short story in my target language per day. Three days = three short stories. I've really enjoyed them so far. They are the kind of stories that don't make any sense, even if you read them in a language you're fluent in, but I'm really looking forward to finishing work today and reading another one.

I was trying to read Twilight, which I think I would rip through if it were in English and get a kick out of, but trying to slog through it in a language I don't know well has been rough. Not even half done and I've had the book for almost a year.
