Any PS teachers working at private winter camps on their vacation?
What documents do you need? (letter of permission, visa supplement, etc.)
Thanks. |

have never taught camp in lieu of my vacation but my understanding is you basically need permission/some kind of official letter, from your original PS, which holds your E2.
I think that's all. |

You need a letter of permission from your current employer, a signed contract detailing the duration and working hours from your new (camp) employer and a copy of the camp operator's business license certificate. Take those to immigration and fill out and application to add an additional worksite/employer to your visa. Pay 60 000 won and submit the above. If immigration approves your application, you can work the camp. If not, youre out 60 000 won and can't work the camp legally. |

when the recruiter who placed me in my current position asked me to work an outside camp my first year here, she simply said I needed a letter of permission from my school. There was no talk or mention of going to immigration, getting approval and any of the other nonsense. |

You were misinformed.
Unless the camp was run by the school you were under contract for, you have to have it approved by immigration. |

My school told me that it was illegal for me to work at a private camp. It's a Gepik school. If you work for a private camp, you may be risking your job...either that or I was lied to, it happens, but it also works both ways. Camp? What camp? |

It's legal, but they just wont give you permission to do it. Without that, immigration wont give you permission to do it. If you do it anyway, youre in violation of your visa terms. |

That's what I thought...and I might not be re-signing this year. I haven't decided for sure, but since my co-teacher is leaving at the end of the semester and I don't know who here replacement will be, it is looking like a bad idea. However, if I get someone that I like, I might be able to live with it for another year. I want to do my Celta this summer and visit my family in the winter, so permission to work at camps isn't really a priority for this next year. It would be nice right now as I try to pay bills and save money for tha CELTA course! |
