3 Ghz easy (on air; no fancy cooling) for that thing. The GPU will be the biggest factor in your gaming. Buy the GPU (I just got my 6870 installed....very, very happy) and see how things run. Make sure your case has good ventilation.

I've got an E7500 that I don't need. Could let you have it for about half the cost price........

I'd get a new GPU and overclock the CPU. If you're mainly playing FPS games then the GPU is the main problem for low frame rates. Since everything is constantly getting updated the longer you hold off on buying a part the better it'll be when you eventually buy it. For myself CPUs and MBs tend to last about 3-4 years while GPUs tend to last about 2 before I feel that I need to update it.
