Actually it starts a little later then that, based on the link from the article (which I had read yesterday), Korea is between U2 and U3
U2 07:41 UTC
U3 08:53 UTC
Add 9 hours to both
Start time: 4:41pm
End time: 5:53pm
If the weather is bad, then it maybe difficult to see it. |

One of the bigger parks might be a good spot to watch in Seoul - something far enough from any nearby towers. I'm thinking Banpo Hangang. |

Good suggestion Z. Also there is a new line going out toward Gwangwando on the subway for those of you that are off work early enough to head out that way. |

Moonrise is not until 18:18 today. So we won't be able to see it at all then. Unless there is something totally wrong with my thinking. |

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to try to take my class outside to check this out after 5pm. |

Has anyone seen the moon yet today? Or is the sky too foggy? |

It's my understanding that the moon will rise already eclipsed. We should then be able to see it come out of the shadow. In some parts of the world the reflected light will make the eclipsed moon appear red, not totally invisible. I'm heading out now to see if I can see anything. Unfortunately I think there's a bit too much cloud cover. |

Yes, I think this is correct. By the time the moon is visible to us here in Seoul (above the horizon) it will have passed through the total eclipse. What we might be able to catch is the end of the partial eclipse. I just heard it might be visible to us right around 7pm.
Has anyone seen info about the eclipse in any of the English dailies? I haven't... |

Yea you're right, thought today was the 22nd for some reason.
Anyway the moon is in the NE sky right now and the eclipse is almost finished.
Pretty good view actually. |

Props to the poster who said moonrise was a 5:18. At 6:18 the moon was well up above the horizon, and looked like it was at quarter phase. The eclipse was over at about 7:10. Took a nice walk to a nearby hilltop. Astronomical phenomena. Priceless. |
