Just looking for some information about this:
I am flying home on the 26th for a a few weeks and was wondering about the hassle that this would cause at the airport.
1. Where do I go to obtain the permit?
2. What should I bring with me to get it? The immigration website says, application form and a picture (outside of the obvious passport and ARC) do i need anything else?
3. How long should I expect to wait?
4. Is the service ever closed?
Thanks! Just trying to get this figured out and see if I should just get up a few hours early one day this week and go to immigration. |

| First time I went to Incheon Airport Immigation in 2007, it took about 10-15 minutes to grab the application form, stick on a photo & get my single entry re-entry visa (actually I got a multiple, but I hear they no longer issue multiples, only singles) Last year it took a whopping 2 hours & I almost missed my flight. When I got to the reservations desk with just 3 minutes to spare, they asked me if I would mind catching a later Cathay Pacific flight? I said no, as it was only 15 mins later. I got upgraded to business class for my cooperation. Guess it depends when your flight is? Early morning or evening you will probably be finished in 15 minutes. 11am to 1pm & it could be 2 hours? You'll need 30,000 won to pay for the re-entry visa. |

hmm, I am going to be at the airport at around 9am. However, it is the day after Christmas (I know, not a big deal here, but still a big travel day).
Maybe just better to go to immigration.
BTW though, where is immigration at the airport? |

I called immigration the yesterday and as of Dec 1 if you are on a E-2 visa there is no need to a re-entry permit.

IF you are a registered foreigner (have an ARC) then you no-longer need a re-entry permit.
As of Dec. 1, 2010, ALL registered foreigners are free to come and go (within the time-frame of their ARC) without need for a re-entry permit or multi-entry visa.
It was/is announced on the immigration and hi-Korea websites.
If you are really worried about it, pop into the immigration office at the airport (doors are located along the back wall behind check-in counter "F" or "H").

| just go to the givernment website Hi Korea (google it) ...create an account and you can print it off within days, plus it's good for multiple entry. Costed 20k less than at the airport too. That's what i did |

2 calendar years .... then return or you lose your F5

It is great news!
I checked & was assured by my director that I can go & return on E2 single entry visa.
Possibly, immigration are seeing how stupid their system is.
Or they do not want our money, either way it is true & yes it was a stupid system before.
Lets hope they see the light in all the other short comings in time. |
