I am looking to buy some glasses. I would like to go to a place that can speak English.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I prefer Busan, but I have heard that Seoul has a lot of stores - and I heard good things about Italy Optic in Itaewon.

There are many places in Incheon Station that have English speaking eyeglass places.

Most opticians speak a modicum of English, if not more. Just potter around your local ones until someone starts speaking English to you.

I bought some glasses yesterday in Homplus opticians. The optician knew how to count from 1 to 10 in English and that was enough for the eye test. Aside from that English ability wasn't important.

I recommend Davich. I've gotten several pairs from them with no problems.

They have a really good variety of frames (from 30000 won plain plastic frames to many times that designer ones) and fast service. I only had to wait maybe 2 hours until they were ready.
Also they almost always have someone who speaks English that can help you.

I went to Namdaemun yesterday and bought a pair of glasses for 50,000 won, including lenses and frame. The man spoke very good English (although he wouldn't admit it), helped me pick out a pair and double checked my prescription. The whole process, from me sitting down and saying "I need glasses" to him handing me my new specs, took about an hour.

There's an underground area with several eyeglass shops not too far from Hoehyeon Station exit 5. Go out exit 5 and walk straight for maybe 5-6 minutes, it'll be on your left hand side.

Been to a store there and got my mum glasses when she was over visiting, the guy said 'come back in 10 minutes' over the rod for a coffee, then back for the new specs Smile

Free icecream there too Smile

And yes, only a small bit of english is needed, don't sweat it, as long as you understand where the cheap and the expensive ones are! BIG DIFFERENCE!!!
