I have done my research on here and still need some questions answered. Thanks to all who help out. I am American if that makes a difference.
1. Will a criminal background check that is 8 months old be acceptable for applying for a job to work in Korea?
2. Will I need more than one copy of both the apostilled degree and background check for different employers even if I don't leave Korea?
3. If the additional apostilled documents are not needed, would they be needed if I traveled out of Korea, say for a weeks vacation to the USA?
4. For GEPIK/SMOE/Hagwons, will I need 2 letters of recommendation to apply?
5. I read that if I go to Korea on a tourist visa, I will have to return to my home country to get my first E2 visa, but also read that I can do that in Guam. Just to verify, can this be done in Guam?
6. Can the E2 visa be done in Japan, now? I believe I read on the forum that some got their first E2 visa in Japan somewhat recently. |

1) No. 6 months old (or less) when they land on the desk at immigration.
2) Maybe. IF you need a new visa then yes, if you transfer then no.
a) Can you transfer depends on the circumstances.
3) No.
4) EPIK (who now does the recruiting for SMOE) and GEPIK = yes.
hagwans = NO.
5) Yes, an American CAN do a visa run to Guam but should also be aware that the employer WON'T pay your flight to Korea AND a visa run. They will pay for 1 of them and it will ALWAYS be to YOUR economic disadvantage.
6) No, with the a couple of exceptions, neither of which you qualify for.

You guys are awesome. I am a Latino guy, 33, so I hope I don't have difficulty finding a job because I know they prefer white young females. |
