I am becoming more disappointed with my current bank - Kookmin aka KB. I was thinking or changing to KEB. BUT ... still keeping my old Kookmin account for just receiving my pay. My question is over the last couple of years many banks here restrict waygooks from remitting money overseas to one bank. So how do I go about doing this. Do I just go to KEB open and account set up remitting for the Internet and ??? what next.

Also I would like to ask anybody about their experience with KEB credit card. I am also thinking of getting a deposit secured Visa account (not actually credit). For those out their that will say try Samsung sorry I am hagwon teacher not public or Uni. Those that have KEB credit cards where you able to use them overseas and online like with ebay, paypal, amazon.

Thanks

While we can't answer your specific questions we can tell you that we love the service at KEB. We utilize their online banking (even on a Mac) to make immediate transfers here in Korea, as was well as international wire transfers.

Here's their phone number so you can ask them directly: 1544-3000.

They have great English speaking staff that should be able to help you. Please let us know how it works out for you. Good luck.

You need to fill out a form at KEB that makes it your overseas remittance bank. Then you just transfer the money from KB to KEB and send it o/s.

I have one and I have used it in Australia, the US, Canada, Spain, Malaysia, Hong Kong, etc. Just make sure that they activate it for o/s use when you get it. Ask explicitly. I couldn't use it the first time I took it o/s because the idiot customer service rep didn't activate it for o/s use, even though I specifically told her I needed it b/c I was going on vacation to The Philippines. Actually, on 2nd thought, that was my check card. Then the same thing happened with my credit card, but luckily I caught it before I went overseas because I tried to buy travel insurance online and it was rejected. Since then, I've had no trouble with my KEB credit card. It's just annoying that you have to lock away that money.

KEB credit card is easy to use. Most of them are VISA and it works everywhere a normal VISA card would work. They have several different types of cards including the KEB Global Card which has 24hr English service.

When I applied I had my Korean friend talk to the teller and they got me my card the next day at school. When I tried on my own a few mins before they tried to get me to do the secured deposit card. They never asked me if I was a public or hagwon teacher. I had to fax over my proof of employment form and that was it. Their website is pretty easy to use and you can pay bills etc all online.
