I see on the ads in Daves that Kongju National University require 18 English Instructors spread over 3 different campuses.

Any ideas why so many all at one time.

Likely filling in Uni-gwon position and next off maybe as your suspect so many teachers did not renew. Also remember we are talking a University in a pretty remote places. Ok not that remote but still not any good city.

Yeah haven't heard very encouraging things about the place from people who've been there.

Still, a way to get one's foot in the door.

Not too much a premium on the city.

Some guys I know started up their uni teaching there and learned how to work under uni bigwig higher-ups.

i heard that they are regulating that all freshman take conversational english classes now. that's why they are hiring so many teachers.

but i have a question: what is it you heard about it not being that great of a place to work? what's the deal, legrande?

I'm no expert on the place, jus' heard from a coupla former co-teachers that u had to sit when told to sit and heel when told to heel by the higher-ups.

They also said that one sorta position was more of a legit uni gig, while another was more of a uni-gwon, the uni-gwon / insitute one where u really got used up like a rag doll.

But they used it (the more legit uni position) to move up in the Korean ESL world, so have at it, I say, least for a coupla years.

well i don't know about previous semesters, but from what my friend said who attended the interview it goes something like this:

20 hours are teaching freshman classes

5 hours are for the language institute which can include adults, kids and uni students.

with 2 hours of mandatory overtime, it comes to 2.3 million a month.

not grand, but at least the majority of your classes won't be teaching rugrats.
