The guy got jumped in the end by a bunch of chinese passengers. I wouldn't be surprised if China will turn into Korea in regards to foreigners....  |

| I've never been on the Guangzhou subway but Seoul is very tame compared to Shanghai, & about the same as Beijing (at least it was, in the run-up to the Olympics in 2008. It may have reverted back to Shanghai style by now? There is no such thing as queuing in China, only stampedes. Korean commuter crowds are way better behaved in comparison. |

| The whole story is that this drunk who had been stopped by the Chinese security for carrying a knife. They tool the knife away from him and let him board the train. he then started cursing and giving the middle finger to passengers, so he was a racist drunk. A group of passengers did attack him but more to subdue him than harm him. Chinese police took the Chinese passengers away and left the drunk on the subway. He continued his racist rant and then slapped a cell phone out of a woman's hands. he was then attacked and slapped a little and pushed. The police came and took him away. Hopefully they gave this drunk bigot a little "love" down at the station |

Korea wasn't much better not too long ago, I'd say just before the 2002 Word Cup it was just as chaotic trying to board a busy Korean subway. It's just amazing how hosting a major world event permanently changes Korean public behavior within months. It used to be a free for all trying to get on an escalator too.
I kind of miss those days, the chaos was a good way of saying you aren't home anymore. |

I don't see the big deal. Because he's a foreigner? Like this doesn't happen in other countries with foreigners....?
The only difference is that his foreigner gets away with his life, other countries he'd be a stain on the floor |

I was just in Beijing and rode the subway. I have to say it depends. Older Koreans are pretty much like the Chinese: they bud in and don't queue or wait for passengers to debark the train. Younger Koreans seem overall better mannered and behaved than any age Chinese. I almost lost it that China has no notion of queuing or waiting in line... |

Ride the subway during rush hour, especially in the morning. It is simply barbaric. It really changed the way I looked at Beijingers, and not for the better. |

| Yeah the subway is a rugby scrum but that does'nt mean some drunk should verbally abuse and threaten people. In my hometown Miami act like that guy on the rail did and you are the next star in Faces of Death movie series. Thank goodness the Chinese police took his knife away before he got on the train. |

| Yeah most civilized people dont carry a knife and shout a bunch of racist crap either. Remember the Chinese police protected the guy the first time. He then proceeded to run amok again. At some point civilized people stop an aggressor before he harms someone. |

yeah it's a bad thing. if some drunk jerk is going to cuss everyone out and then proceed to knock a woman's cell phone out of her hands, he deserves a punch to the face. some people need to get punched in the face just to shut them the hell up.
