Believe it or not, almost every K girl that I know who has married a western guy has ended up divorcing them...mainly for cultural reasons.

And almost all the Korean women I know that have married a western men are completely happy with their marriage, have children, and lead productive lives in Korea.

It is interesting that the divorce rate in Korea has been on the rise lately though. 42% is pretty high.

Divorce is prevalent in many countries, and I don't dispute that the divorce rate in Korea is high. Korea has changed quite a bit since the old days.

Don't take it the wrong way, I'm not trying to argue the merits of Korean women marrying western men. I really believe that race doesn't matter when it comes to marriage or dating. But ask yourself: why is korea 99% homogeneous? If the trend was for Korean women to favour western men, don't you think that korea would be less homogeneous?

Moreover, I don't dispute that almost all the people you know who have married Korean girls are leading happy lives....but let me ask you, how many? 5 or 6? Not a large enough sample size as there will always be exceptions. I personally know 15 couples...all divorced except for 2.

I also agree that some Korean women prefer western men over Korean men because of the way Korean men treat their wives, but having talked to many many many Korean NATIVE FOB GIRLS (not gyopos), the majority will go out with western guys to learn english only, and that the majority of these girls will often settle with a Korean guy in the end.
Also, according to my wife, Korean girls are finally catching on male western esl teachers...that they are often dateless and come to Korea for easy p*ssy and that many come to Korea due to limited opportunities at home.

And to your wife's friends who complain about korean guys....tell them this: why don't you go out and get a good job so that you can pay for housing and support your family. Instead of b*tching and complaining about Korean husbands, ask them to put themselves in the shoes of Korean men. Enough said.

There is a whole forum of happily married Korean-western couples. I know many korean - western couples and non of them are divorced. I am one and very happy. Its a misconception that western men and Korean women get divorced so easily. When in fact the newspapers report interracial marriages ending in divorce or Korean men and southeast Asian women. FTW

I often wondered what I'd be doing with my free time while in Korea if I didn't have a computer with high speed. It's my music, my chatting, my phone, my reading, my movies. Funny thing is, English teachers aren't the only ones buddying up only to a computer. Koreans like the PC too. I'd say few, if anyone, are actually happy. You are here not for pleasure, but because you are teaching English, you are in the military, you are an engineer, you are a 3D worker, you are a foreign wife, or simply you are Korean and Korea is your home. While it's not the funnest place I've visited, I'd recommend anyone traveling to drop in for an experience to put things into perspective. Am I happy? Not really. I could easily get used to having just a few friends, more things to do outside of the apartment, and amenities like a nice newer gym in or near my area instead of an old cramped weight lifting room I feel uncomfortable with. While it's what you make of it, Korean people need to be more talkative and less reserved instead of looking angry, failing to acknowledge each other, and having little consideration for others, but I'm not here to tell Korea how they should act and live. I think teachers could be a bit more tight with each other too, but we are geographically spread out and many like to keep life simple by being alone.

Jvalmer. If you think I'm a troll that's fine. But I'm telling you right now that I'm not trolling. In regards to my Jewish conspiracy thread, all I ask is that you do some research. If anyone on Dave's can refute my Jewish conspiracy post, I will withdraw the post, apologize and never post on Dave's again. Just please prove me wrong. I want to be proven wrong...but I can't deny what my research has unveiled.

lack of intelligence? nah, I'd say difference of opinion and freedom of speech. And in the end, it doesn't matter what you say about me, actually it makes me laugh....because I know for a fact that I'm more intelligent than you.

Please list your educational and professional credentials......oh and esl teaching doesn't count.

Or Halifax. Or St. John's. Or Fredericton. Or Charlottetown.

Seriously, I hate people who think Toronto and Vancouver are the only cities in Canada worth visiting. I'd rather spend time in any of cities I listed above than in Toronto (I can't speak for Vancouver having never been there).

Why doesn't ESL teaching count? Do you look down upon ESL teachers?

Hard to believe this guy is in his late 30's...
