Daegwallyeong Snow Festival
From Feb 12-21, in Pyeong chang, Daegwallyeong Snow Festival is a great place to spend time with the family.
The annual festival offers lots of festive events such as various traditional winter games, and snowman making as well as exhibitions of snow and ice sculptures on the snow-covered hills of Daegwallyeong.
In particular, a team of sculptors are now working on a project which is claimed to be the worlds biggest snow sculpture that will be displayed during the festival.
But one of the most eye-catching events is arguably the half-naked marathon, which is scheduled on Jan. 16. Thousands of bare-chested runners will try to brave freezing weather while running 5 and 10 kilometer courses
For further information, call (033)-336-2761 or visit the Web site at www.snowfestival.net. |

Thanks for the information!
Is it only for men to compete in?
What time do the races begin? |

Umm, 'thousands of barechested runners...'
I hope it's not just for men...

I went to the East Sea last New Year's to watch the sunrise. Saw a few people jump in and take a dip. I didn't know the water temperature, but the air was freezing and I'm guessing the water was close to that, too. |

Man a 5k and a 10k run shirtless? It's gotta be freezing. I wonder how many people actually do it. I can see doing it for a few minutes (10?) but for a 5k that would take more than 20-25 minutes for many people and a 10k would take would be 45 minutes to over an hour. That can't be healthy for the body to be exposed like that - what if these are the temperatures....?

I've done that. It's well organized and worth doing, IMO. |

Busan beach swim this weekend, from what I heard. Can't help you with the details, though. |

The Wando swim [url=http://briandeutsch.blogspot.com/2011/01/wando-winter-swim-cancelled.html]has been cancelled[/ur], like many other rural festivals because of foot-and-mouth disease. |
