I never heard this word before coming to Korea. Nor had I ever heard of a "grammatical error." Before I came here, grammar errors were simply "grammar errors." I suppose that it is a real word because the phrase "grammatically incorrect" does make sense, but I suspect that a sentence like "Is this grammatical?" is wrong. In fact, it totally grates on my ears when I hear someone ask this. What do you think?

I've heard it before moving here. It doesn't bother me.

It's a perfectly cromulent word.

Seriously, I've heard it before coming to Korea, and I see it in linguistics articles.

What drives me nuts is when native English speakers say "vocabularies", as in "Let's teach the students 10 new vocabularies each week." I've only heard that a couple of times, though.

"Grammatical" is very much a real word. I imagine most people will have heard it, and it's not something that should grate on your ears.

In fact, noun-noun compounds like "grammar error" are uglier.

'Grammatical errors' is very common where I am from. 'Grammar error' is like chalk on a board, along with 'you did good (well)' and 'I seen (saw) a bird the other day'.
