Apparently SMOE is cutting jobs again.

So everyone who applied for SMOE, will we get what the 2008 Smoe teachers got? A last minute rejection notice saying you wont be coming to Korea?

Anybody currently in Smoe now to shed some light on the news?

Well, make the most of it. Come to Korea. Be prepared to change schools.

We've heard rumours, but apparently nothing is confirmed yet.

I don't think it will be a situation where people are landing at Gimpo and finding out they don't have openings.

It is pretty standard for the public schools, not just SMOE, to start out the year projecting a large number of jobs, and as we get closer to the date, and more teachers sign on again for another year, or schools decide not to hire teachers, that the projected number of openings decreases.

Further, I believe the SMOE has only received about 100 full sets of documents at this point, so it won't be a situation of 500 teachers with NOAs and plane tickets, and only 400 jobs when they arrive in Korea...cause that was a bad week for everyone.

Well I for one would not blame anyone for being extra cautious especially after what happened in 2009.
