Sorry if this has been answered. I was googling and using searcheslcafe.com, but couldn't find info on subway schedules.

Do they shut down at a certain time or run a light schedule all night long?

I know getting a cab could be extremely difficult this Friday night, but walking and using subway is more practical.

A friend mentioned how horribly tight the subway car was new years night. I imagine the subway will be open until around 1:30 or so, maybe later. I'm more curious about the buses honestly. Particularly the 500-1, 500-2 and 300 buses out of Jamsil, Yangjae and Ori station respectively.

They will be open later than usual, but it all depends on where you are catching it and where you are going... they won't be all night long, but say catching it from Jonggak is possible, but you could be waiting for an hour plus to get near the station platform...

Click on "Cyber Station" (lower left of screen). When the new screen pops up you can click on a specific station to get the train timetable.

On New Year's Eve they'll run more trains but just remember that if you are anywhere where's an official celebration there will be huge crowds. Everyone will try to make that last subway so plan just in case you get stuck somewhere overnight. You can usually sit in a bar or restaurant, or, as a last resort, sit in a PC bong until the subway starts running again at 5 am.
