Hey everyone,
So after finishing my contract here in Korea I will be moving to India in March. I am currently trying to figure out how to get my employment visa.
The Indian Embassy in Seoul says that I cannot obtain an EV in Korea unless I am a Korean citizen, or as a foreigner have lived here for two years.
The Indian Embassy in the US told me to go to the Indian Embassy in Seoul to get the EV. Wrong obviously O_o
There has got to be another way for me to get an EV to India without traveling all the way back to the US for a week, and then to India.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or gone through a similar process for obtaining an employment visa in another country?
I appreciate any genuine help! |

So I guess if I'm in Korea and ask someone in Korea about how to get a driver's license in New York, that qualifies as having something to with Korea?  |

Ah, but the OP wants to get the Indian visa in Korea, not in India.
Would you ask someone in India to give you directions to the local embassy in Korea, or would you ask someone in Korea who might have, personally, been there?

I agree. It's completely ON topic. The OP is in Korea and wants information or advice on how to deal with the Indian Embassy - specifically the Indian Embassy in Korea. The embassy in the States obviously doesn't have the info he's looking for and it's more likely that he'll find someone on THIS forum that will have experienced the same situation that he's now experiencing.
OP, I've never even been to India, but from my experiences with other embassies and visas, my advice would be to call back on a different day of the week at a different time of day. You may get someone else on the phone who will give you a different answer. If you're in or near Seoul and can make a trip to the embassy then do so. A polite chat in person, where you plead your case may find you the solution that you're looking for. Officially you might have to go back to the States but these things are often left to the discretion of the local embassy staff (who are the only ones who really know how long you've actually been in Korea). If they seem reluctant to help out, ask them how you can prove that you've been in Korea for 2 years (maybe it's just a matter of you stating it). |

Good luck with Indian visas these days. They are very difficult on westerners recently. Best bet is to go to India on a tourist visa and then up to Nepal to sort out any work visa issues laster on.
The word is so many russians and nigerians have pissed people off as well as terrorist threats have made them very tight about visas. I hear the yoga schools are ven sitting empty becuase they make people apply for student visas now and ten reject them.
My friends who have lived in Indian for years could get 5 year visas before and now they must leave every 6 months and stay out for 2 months to get a new visa. |
