Wondering if someone can point me in the right direction. I'm trying to create a website where ESL teachers can all join and upload word documents. In other words, I want it to look almost like a torrent site (like Waffles.fm) but instead of downloading torrents, you download user-created files.
I really hate eslprintables. Ugly site, stupid toolbar, and credit based system blows. I think many of you will agree...
So my mission is to make a straightforward site. I've got tons of content to add myself.
Does anyone know of a good content management program such as Drupal, Joomla, or what I am using now, which is PHP Nuke? I honestly hate PHP Nuke. Looks like a website from the 1990s. Check it out for yourself:

Nobody is joining my page cuz, well, it stinks. I need a better, flashier, more Web 2.0 kind of look. Any suggestions? |

I like Drupal. But it's very flexible, which means you can flex yourself completely around the axle. Joomla is cool, but I'm not fond of it cuz worked on a couple of shi##y sites that were put together badly. Either way, you need a programmer to put sh!t together.
Your site ain't crappy, but there's a million (and now a million and one) esl sites out there.
And spare us the google ads - you're not really making any money off them, so don't pollute your site for a few pennies a month. |

Yeah, I thought about removing the ads. Not really worth it. Been about 1 year and I've made approx. $7.80! I thought instead about adding a paypal donation section at the bottom of the page.
As for Droopal and Joomla, yeah, I took a look at those. I'm no programmer, all I know is basic HTML. And a little bit more perhaps. But I can't actually write code, I'm OK at editing it sometimes...
May give Droopal a try. I guess it's time to read up on things... |

Drupal is definitely not for the non-programmer. It's a programmer's wet dream. Go for joomla if want to make it serious. But even wordpress, the easiest of the 3 content management systems, is worth a try. Plain old html is not only cumbersome, but it's a maintenance nightmare, not to mention later upgrading or capability additions |

Drupal set up is a bit of a pain. I would recommend WordPress and simply get or buy a good template. |

I've done web work in the past (for a living, I'm IT), and I'm a big fan of Joomla. Has a bit of a learning curve but I don't think it's too complicated. Granted I was using it for work so I may be slightly biased |
