Did a 10km running race a week ago and we had to run over mats saturated with the disinfectant/whatever stuff in three different places. Then on the interstate they were spraying the buses.
It seems to be quite serious. Hope they get under it control quickly. |

I read the linked CNN article and somebody in the comments was blaming it on the USA. I guess nothing is impossible, right? |

This story is karma, irony, and schadenfreude all wrapped into a nice package. |

Do any driving a fair clip outside of the major cities and you'll see spraying all over the place. Then again, that's usually during the spring, not the winter. I know that it's gotten pretty bad in Yangju lately, resulting in the deaths of a lot of cattle and pigs. |

In the papers Korea also has bird flu now. Two major economically devestating diseases at the sametime. Ouch. |

Is it filthy unsanitary high population density conditions causing these issues? If so, then why not clean it up and increase the animals living space. Like in Seoul for people, farms seem a bit too high population density. Nothing can be healthy and diseases propagate when population density resembles a sardine can. |

This is kind of random, but...
The wiki article says hedgehogs are one of the few animals that are susceptible to the disease. I have a pet hedgehog. What are my chances of accidentally passing it to him - like would I have to have been infected farm, or is just walking through the streets of Busan and bumping into some random farmer enough? Also, what could I do to prevent transmission, and what symptoms would he develop?
I know this is a long shot, expecting anyone here to know, but if you do have any info it would put my mind at ease ^^ |
