CNN (U.S. edition) had a "Breaking News" feature titled "On the Brink of War", and what made it seem really scary is their reporting that Wolf Blitzer and another correspondent were taking the imminent threat of war so seriously that they were set to depart to China within a few hours - rather than staying in Korea to cover the the unfolding story of NK's response to military drills. This vid shows part of their coverage (but doesn't include the part about the reporters ready to flee danger...) http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/world/2010/12/19/nr.mike.chinoy.korea.cnn?iref=24hours

The imminent threat level seemed to become significantly lower when it was reported soon thereafter that Bill Richardson had managed to make some progress in his talks with NK officials.

Ratings are definitely a factor, but I think some of the reporters were really scared. At least the latest reports about North Korea's immediate intentions are better ... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_korea_north

I agree the South is pushing but it may be what is needed to stop the incidents. Sinking a warship killing sailors and then shelling the homes of a bunch of fishermen is criminal. I truly believe that this time the Chinese have had enough. for one thing it has pulled the U.s. back into the region in a major way and the Japanese are expanding their military and the North's behavior is one of the reasons.

Everything is going to be put before the leaders in Beijing before anything is done and China is not saying a word about the drills!! Not a peep! There was a long article in the Shanghai daily about how much money it cost China to support the North. So I would assume that Beijing has said have the drill, keep it down but we aren't going to complain to loudly if it escalates a little bit.

The name of this thread refers to incidents like the Cheonan-

In case you missed it, there is an article on the Korean War in American Heritage magazine this month:

Don't forget the coverup of the Yeonpyeong. Just because we were told that those shells were from NK doesn't mean they were. Why haven't they done an investigation into where those shells came from? Seems pretty suspicious to me. It was probably the US. Of course, if North Korea HAD shelled the island, they would have been fully justified, since the South were doing military exercises.

If the South holds drills on it's on territory the North is justified in killing civilians! Explain!

On Nork t.v. they interviewed two of the soldiers who participated in the shelling, calling them heros. neither looked like Americans and they were definitely not wearing R.O.K. uniforms. the North admits to it. they are proud of shelling the island. They are not denying doing it!!! They did it!!

When someone thinks that poor fishermen should be killed so some nutty dictators son can look tough well maybe the tin foil is not wrapped around the head properly.

You really shouldn't believe all the lies the government controlled media spoon-feeds you.

Think about 911. Huge conspiracy. There has never been a case where a plane hit a building like that and the steel melted! Look it up. 911 was designed by the bush administration so they could go to war in Iraq.

The Holocaust too. That was made up. But so many people don't look hard enough. I'm pretty sure all of World War 2 was a hoax. I haven't been able to find a single person who was actually there.

You need to stop looking at all the "evidence" and start thinking outside the box.

Wow, I have never seen a post start out so well and then divebomb so fast!

Shame, really. I just hope you'll hone your critical skills/reality testing quickly.

Are you serious?

My grandfather was there, driving jeeps throughout his service. He also spent about a day floating in the North Atlantic because his convey was attacked by German U-boats.

Met a German man who was a teenager during WWII. He vividly remembers the bombing raids and having to look for his younger sister after one of the raids.

Also, the reason Koreans don't speak Japanese is because the Japanese had to withdraw from Korea because the Japanese were part of the losing team.

I read about the Nork t.v. broadcast in the Hong Kong paper , later saw a bit of it on t.v. Chinese t.v!

Anyway the Chinese are not really thrilled with all of this. They have bigger issues and do not need this crap. their serious border issues with India is getting worse.

But YOU weren't there, no proof. In fact, since a U would make a terrible boat, I think this just further proves my point.

You need to question everything, believe nothing. Think about the Gods of Rock, Nickelback. I recently read this:

"What you people don't seem to realize is that Nickelback is performance-art pranksterism. A practical joke perpetrated on the public. Chad Kroeger is actually a painter and musician from New York. He was in an avant-garde noise rock band called " Fingerprince " from 1991 to 1993. In 1995 he hired 3 actor/musicians for a project where they would imitate terrible music and through various connections in the art and music world, gain international fame. Chad originally intended to use the profits to fund an LSD manufacturing laboratory based in Alberta, Canada. However, they underestimated how positively the public would react towards their music. I have learned, through a reliable source who knows Kroeger personally, that the band plans to stage a plane crash a la Buddy Holly sometime in 2011 before the release of their next album."

Hard to believe that the best band in the universe is behind their own conspiracy. NOTHING should be taken at face value.

Or maybe your deductive reasoning skills need work. I have presented clear evidence in support of my positions. All you provide is baseless attacks. Question everything, believe nothing.
