Inspired by the thread, since arriving to korea, are you fatter or skinnier now?, I decided to start up this thread for those of us that need or intend to lose weight in the New Year.

I must admit that I have turned into a complete porker over the last 12 months. Last January I weighed a rather lean and toned 70Kgs (5'10).

However partly due to a soccer injury and not being able to workout.......along with eating like a pig and drinking wayyyy too much, I've managed to gain 13.5Kgs (in a year!). So now I weigh a rather unflattering 83.5kgs, the heaviest weight of my entire life.

My diet and fitness (fully recovered from injury) routine began today. So, as of now I weigh a rather pot bellied and love handled 83.5kgs. Sad

It's taken me a while, but now I finally have the drive and determination to kick my fat ass into gear and hopefully get in shape.

I intend to weigh in here every Sunday, with an update of my progress and up to date weight.

So week 1, Tamada 83.5kgs. Smile Embarassed

Haven't got anything to weigh myself with, but I look marginally thinner today than yesterday in the mirror. I also feel a smidgen more virtuous.

chellovek: slightly thinner than yesterday Razz

I lost 2 kilos. over the last couple of weeks. Down to about 86 kg. I'm reading EAT TO LIVE, by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. It's an interesting read. Recommends more fruit & veggies & a lot less meat. Cool thread!

This morning I weighed in at 160. Breakfast is coffee and half a bagel. I'll figure out the food part as I go. First, I will step up the exercise. I joined a gym last week.

I'm down 2 kilos since starting f-Atkins again, but I think my weight was artificially high before, due to eating a box of cookies a day, and artifically low now, due to eating 0-20 carbs per day.

I feel *way* better, which is what it's about, although I feel kind of gross entering my food into Fitday to check my carbs... yesterday, I literally ate nothing but chicken. Wow. Today, I've had a hamburger patty, 4 strips bacon, and chicken... and I'm getting leaner by the second.

I had "induction flu" for 2 days (headaches), but now feel fine, except I'm constantly thristy, and I wake up at least twice during the night to pee.

Hooray for support.

I'm 5'4" roughly 56kg (after the conversion). I'd like to lose ideally 6 kg. Though, I secretly want to lose more than that. I'm generally not a snacker, though I do enjoy meal type junk food like sausage and potatoes. Also I like alcohol.

Step 1: Ditch alcohol M-Th. Limit intake on weekends to wine and the occasional gin and soda water.

Step 2: Limit rice intake.

Step 3: Limit portion size in general. I am not a man. I can't eat as much as my husband. I need to stop eating what he eats because it doesn't work me for.

I know this doesn't seem like much, but as I said, I'm not much of a snacker and I really do enjoy eating veggies anyway. Also, I'm not giving up on meat, but I will do the "playing card" rule.
I have no work out plan just yet. I do walk just over a mile each way to and from work so that's good. I will do floor/toning exercises at home daily and dance like a maniac with my headphones on occasion. When it warms up, I'll get back to jogging and walks up the foothills nearby. But I despise cold weather.

Last year when I killed myself at the gym, I still only managed to lose about 3 kg in 6 months. But I was less concerned with diet then. I hope by combining diet and exercise I can finally lose the 10 lbs that have been plaguing me since forever.

Nothing to weigh myself with here, either, but I intend to pick up a scale after payday.

When I left the US, I weighed in at 173lbs (78.47 kilos). At 5'4", that puts me at "obese" on the BMI scale, but you might not think it to look at me. I'm built short and stocky, with either a high-end of medium or a low-end of large bone structure, broad hips and shoulders, and VERY muscular, thick legs (which I think contain most of that BMI-skewing weight). I actually have a waistline and muscles and everything, it's just a bit flabbier than I'd like.

Since I've arrived here, I've lost an insane 5 inches off my waistline (36 to 31, booyah!), I don't huff and puff as much going up hills or flights of stairs, and my face looks thinner in photos than it did 3 months ago. I also fit better into trousers that were too snug on me a few months ago, and the trousers that used to fit me are falling down over my hips. I have NO idea how much, if any, weight I've actually lost. I may have just replaced the fat with better muscle tone in my legs (which were already pretty buff to begin with).

Once I get a scale, I'll start weighing in and reporting the results here, as well as a waistline-measurement (as that's more of a concern to me than weight).

Thanks for making this thread! Hooray for support! <3

Ha, me too. I try to gain weight, but seem to be losing it no matter how much I eat. I blame it on the kimchi and korean food.

Weighing in with the stats Smile

I hover around 65 kgs. When I first came here, it was about 72... I'm 5'5...

I would like to get down to around 59 kgs, but I don't think that's possible. I've just never been the thin type, but people can change!

I was thinner than that at some point, but that was 10 years ago...

I'm on Atkins now, and my house stinks like bacon. I'm planning to go off of Atkins when I travel to Thailand for break, and eat a lot of fruit. Then, I'll come back.. and ... who knows?

I've decided to try and lose "the weight" over 1 year, so we'll see!!! 14 lbs in one year is easy, but.. keeping it off... hoo boy.

This Atkins diet. What exactly are you eating? Can you give me your daily diet?

I think there was a thread about it before which I replied to, but I can't find it anymore!
