I like Apples and when I got here, I could buy a bag of them for 5000 won, now that same bag is 10,000 Won, so it has doubled. Food is typically the largest part of my monthly budget.
I also make a little less money and live in a more expensive area. My transportation to school and back was free, and I pay for it. So, I think that my expenses have gone up, but prices have also increased. |
10,000 won? Do you buy your fruit and vegetables at emart or homeplus or lotte mart? Do you light your cigarettes with 1000 won bills too? I could never understand why suckers would pay double, triple, or even quadruple normal prices to buy that stuff at the big box chains. |
Organics cost more. |

Food is always a large part of anyone's budget (save eating ramyon-esque crap), Be thankful you don't also have rent to contend with.
The bold part of the post....I have no idea what you are saying.
As for the OP...welcome to adult life. |

How is being paid once monthly a telling aspect? It's easier to organize a monthly budget when you're paid once a month. Bills are paid once a month.
Perhaps you should take your eponymous med. |

The bold, translated: Earlier on, transportation was covered by work. Now, she has to pay for it. Not only have her expenses risen, but prices have gone up as well. |

getting paid weekly or bi-monthly has more instant gratification than waiting a whole month to recieve your reward.
I would rather it also, but it is rare to find |

Ultimately, getting money sooner and in more intervals is better. The sooner you get it, the sooner you can either pay off loans or invest it. It will add up to far greater savings in the long run. |

But you'd have to pay a wire transfer fee each time. I'd save it and do it once a month anyway. |

I like every two weeks MUCH better than once a month.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for those who can budget. You can take advantage of interest on a larger amount, or invest it. |

If you're getting paid after a year of working, it wouldn't be you who was benifiting from the interest. Anyway, we're talking about Korea here... who would trust their employer THAT much to pay them after a year? |

You get used to it.
When I first got to Korea my hawgwon used to pay us in 2 monthly installments. One would be a set amount, something like 40%, the other would be the rest plus overtime. I found that even with that, it was hard for me to learn how to budget right away, as it was my first full time job.
The OP is probably in the same boat. Once you learn how to budget though, and how to SAVE so that you have money to fall back on, it is actually better getting paid only once a month.
As other posters have stated, it helps you to be more conservative with money as you don't know what unexpected things will occur that month, and thus at the end of the month (hopefully) you should have a surplus. Either that or you learn how to budget really well so that you have mandatory savings of xx % of your monthly salary.
I haven't had a full time job yet where I got paid every two weeks. When I went back to university a few years ago, I had a part-time job that was every two weeks, but sort of messed up because it was based on submitting a time card, so they were actually like a month behind in what they paid me. I much prefer a salary that I know what is going in and when. |

Suck it up and learn to adjust, or leave. (Psst, it's not all that hard to adjust... nearly all of us have). |
