|

Hello!
I am looking for recommendations on a good tea.
I do not live anywhere fancy, so I can't go to some unique store near you to pick it up. I do have a lotte mart and home plus near me, and I can order from gmarket.
My favorite tea has always been various black teas.
Today I dropped by the tea isle and found some Pearl Jasmine (Granted, it was from Lipton) and tried that out. Alas, the fragrance and taste are both a bit weak.
Do you have any exceptional teas that you can recommend? Bonus points if they are black teas that I can get somewhere near me! |

Just check out www.iherb.com
Lots of people talk about it here regarding the easiness and speed of delivery to Korea.
They probably have tea you're looking for. |

As far as *black* tea goes, all you can find in those big marts would be Lipton Yellow Label, that is if you're lucky. There are a few online shops in Korea that sell teas like Twining or Ahmad in 20-teabags boxes, but you might feel like throwing up how high they're priced if you're from, say, United Kingdom where you easily find shelves stocked with black teas. |

If you can order it from abroad, try Lady Grey.
If you're keen on non-tea Koran "teas" try daechu tea. Daechu is Korean for jujube/Chinese date. It's lovely. You can get the honey version, or the dried jujubes themselves. |

Yorkshire Gold.
Williamson Earl Grey.
A cup of plane old Tetley with milk (no sugar) is always nice. |

I will always maintain the best tea in the world is white or oolong tea. I haven't found it in mainstream Korea so far, I miss it so much. |

You can buy these teas in any E-Mart, Lotte Mart, or Home Plus. Here's some information on their positive effects.

Hanbang tea favorites
Maesil tea: Made with ``maesil,'' or Japanese apricots, this yea is especially good through July. Effective in detoxifying, maesil tea can relieve stomach aches.
Ginger tea: Working under the air conditioner can affect the overall immune system and make it easier to catch a cold, but a cup of ginger tea can prevent all that. Ginger is also good for blood circulation and detoxification.
Jujube tea: Sleepless nights are a burden, but try drinking jujube tea for a good nights sleep. Jujubes help comfort the stomach and release stress.
Omija tea: ``Omija, or the schizandra berry, is named after its five different tastes: sweet, spicy, sour, salty and bitter. Thanks to its various tastes, it helps in bringing back your appetite and further recuperating from the heat. Its also a great remedy for fatigue.
Galgeun tea: ``Galgeun is the root of the arrowroot, and when made into a tea form, its great for hangovers and putting you back on track for the day. Its also effective for blood circulation, reducing fever and flu. |

I would recommend Puerh tea. It's mixed in with all the green teas at Lotte Mart, but it should be on or near the bottom shelf and priced at 970 won. It's very cheap and the closest I can get to good black tea there. |

These teas were available in Itaewon last time I looked about two months ago. |

Omija tea is very nice. I forgot about that. I buy the honey kind, because it's delicious and easier than the dried berry variety.
I love PG tips, but I have to have that sent from the UK. |

Thanks for the recommendations! I will check some of them out.
I'm from America, but I'm a tea drinker. I love going to high tea with my friends! Haha.
I love both English Breakfast & Irish Breakfast, they are probably my favorite. |

I just get my family to send me large packs of my favourite black teabags from home a couple of times per year................easier and even cheaper than hunting out the rare pack of stupidly overpriced black tea in Korea. |

My family also does this. Otherwise it is a trip to Shisegae in Busan for some of the import goodness. In terms of green teas though, I got really into the wonders of Jirisan wild green teas though. Talk about amazing. Some great blends all made out of Hadong. |

I ended up getting some Rooibos today. A bit spendy for 10 bags. Next time I'm going to look for that Puerh tea, I just need to remember to write the name down!
I was with a Korean and asked her about the Jujube tea. I thought it might be good as a nighttime tea. She said it tastes disgusting, then tried to recommend to me these fancy "Nut" teas and some pumpkin/yam tea, lol. I don't even think it was tea, it was like a powder mix! Who knows what that is. |
