|
|
For those who keep track this was the #1 youtube video in Korea this week.
Quote: |
It's true: Chris Lowe is an Auburn alumnus, he is an English teacher in South Korea, and he taught hundreds of his students some of his favorite Auburn chants and cheers to celebrate the Tigers playing in the BCS Championship.
However, this video is a fictional comic take based on Chris' love for all things Auburn. No, he did not actually name any of his students Bo, Jackson, Cam or Newton. He has not been teaching his students about Auburn football all semester long. Oh, but one more thing is true; Chris and all his students wish Auburn good luck against Oregon in the national title game.

I've never been an Auburn fan, but I respect someone who positively supports their alma mater, and who, as a teacher, uses any opportunity to teach to students the fun of American college life, especially in Korea, since Korea doesn't have collegiate sports. Don't forget that the "reporter" is a new blogger in Korea and she does a very good job. Kudos all around for a job well done.
Plus, don't forget, Auburn plays Oregon in the NCAA National Championship game Monday 8:30 pm EST USA, or 10:30 am Tuesday our time. |

Actually, Korea does have collegiate sports, just not real college leagues like in the U.S..

Oh lord they're both annoying. Look at some of the other videos on her channel. She screams and squirms as she tries bizarre and odd exotic foods like takoyaki and *gasp* fried squid.
Looked on her website. She's a former tv news reporter who teaches here with her husband.
I'm fond of her pronunciation of Noryangjin. |

I tell you what folks - when CBS news anchors (even if it is with a local affiliate) are packing up and coming over to work in Hagwonville Korea! Then that says it all! I never knew people were that desperate back in septicland.
What is going on?
Two years ago - Lauren (and the likes of) would have laughed in your face if you dared suggest that one day they would be teaching the offspring of Hyundai lifers in some hagwon in South Korea.
If you are reading this and have falled that far from the ladder that now you are in Korea against your will - you have my commiserations - and I mean that with all sincerity. |

In the description, it says that the video isn't serious. It's just these two yo-yos having some fun. Except that this dude is actually that obsessed with the Auburn Tigers, who don't give a damn about him, and the woman makes these videos so that she can feel like she's still a journalist. I bet that this Lauren chick is always reminding people about her journalism background and is always looking for excuses to bring it up.
I'm sure that they're okay people, but I'm just calling it like I see it. I found the videos to be annoying too.
People who talk about science fiction or engineering or other subjects incessantly are usually looked at as nerds and social retards. At the same time, people who have the same level of obsession with sports teams, who have man crushes on athletes and who let their emotional states be influenced by how "their" team is doing, are looked at as perfectly normal and healthy. I think that both of the above need to get their priorities checked.
What really pisses me off though, are weed nerds, who are always talking about the different strains of weed and have posters of chronic leaves and Bob Marley everywhere because they're that guy who smokes a lot of weed and that's what makes them cool. Anyway, I'm getting side-tracked here. |

Tell you what though BT, that is a lofty perch to fall from, who would have thought local CBS news anchors would end up having to teach in a hagwon?
She always wanted to travel but has never heard of Macao? And it took her eight years to end up in South Korea to quench her thirst of travelling? Yeah right - I bet any money Korea occupied a place next to Macao in 'places I have never heard of' before she got her cards.
Can you imagine Lucy Meacock losing her job and then having to work for GEPIK?
Well, you have gotta laugh, if you don't laugh you'll cry eh?
