I'll be visiting my home country, the USA, later this year and am curious to know if there is any short-term health insurance available.

Yes, there are a few different options depending on how long you'll be there for. First, I'd suggest checking out your university's alumni page and seeing if they offer any deals or discounts. Frequently they can arrange a group rate for insurance or offer bridge insurance for recent grads who need coverage after graduating and looking for a job (but typically you can still apply, it can range from 1 month to 6 months of coverage)

There is also catastrophic insurance, which provides coverage only if something major happens (ie you're hit by a bus) and doesn't cover basic costs.

You can also get individual insurance (it's not cheap). I'd suggest checking out ehealthinsurance.com and goldenrule.com and you can read up on it and fill out a questionnaire to get a quote.

Also, (if applicable) if your parents have insurance through their companies and you were once insured, check into getting back on it. Health care laws have changed. But I'm not an expert on this by any means and I could be wrong.
