I'll be heading to South Korea in May and I'm wondering if you are able to use iTunes in the country. I just received an iPad as a gift, but I don't want to open it if I can't actually buy songs and stuff off iTunes within the borders of South Korea. I know in some countries you cannot make purchases off iTunes, what about South Korea?
Thanks in advance. |

I have been buying things from the US iTunes store since I've been here. I think that you will be okay as long as you set it up on a credit card from your country and keep the building address in that country.
That's been my experience at least. |

You can create an iTunes Korea account with your secondary e-mail address. Once you open a local bank account and get a VISA/Mastercard debit card issued, then you can link it to your iTunes Korea account as well.
Be aware, though, that the number of contents you can get from iTunes Korea comes far short of what you could get from iTunes US. For that reason, many people in Korea hold iTunes accounts in both countries. |

| I'm always shocked when I hear about people paying to download music. |

In the case of an iPad or an iTouch, it's more a matter of paying to download apps. |

Why? What's wrong with paying the artist for the work they've done? If anything I'm always shocked at how entitled people feel these days. |

| Yes, but the agreement that you check/click says that you can't. So, I suppose they could get you if they wanted b/c you wouldn't be agreeing to terms. |

Nothing wrong with it at all. I'm glad there are people such as yourself to keep Eminem out of the poor house. I do have a problem with charging $.99 a song. Gotta love how ever time the music industry finds a cheaper way to distribute lower quality music they charge consumers more money. record>cassette>CD>MP3. |

The lower quality music is an opinion (one that I dont disagree with ), however, 99 cents IS cheaper. I dont recall cd or cassette singles being sold for 99 cents. Also, at least now you can get the ONE song you want, rather than paying for the whole crappy album.
I get your point...there's no physical media and the distribution is much cheaper now, but it still costs money to produce records.
I should apologize to you though because I came off as a little self-righteous. I'm not saying that I'm innocent of downloading things online, I just dont think it's crazy to pay to do it, especially if you can afford to. |

| I use iTunes just fine in South Korea. Can download movies, rentals, songs, apps, whatever with no problems. And I created my account and linked it to my American debit card without any hassles all within the country. |

I agree with you about paying for music you can afford. I collect records so if I've downloaded an album and really like it I will often buy it on vinyl. I also pay for things from smaller artisits and independent record labels. I should apologize for for scoffing at the idea of paying for music. |

The issue is if you're using a Korean card you're locked into the Korean store, which has a pretty limited selection. |
