I have been doing a bit of indoor exercise at home with a few dumbells, yoga mat and medicine ball. Something that may be worth peoples time are some Fitness DVD's (torrents).

Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred This one would a good one to start with it has 3-20 minute workouts of varying intensity. I haven't even moved from the 1st level yet.

Banish Fat boost Metabolism- A longer 50 minute workout. I have not really explored this one yet

Personal training with Jackie- Circuit training
Four different workouts targeting specific areas, I have been mixing the shorter workouts from this DVD in with the 30 day Shred.

I have never done a video workout in my life until a few weeks ago and I am a fan. All that is needed is a yoga mat and some light dumbells. These workouts will kick your a** for sure.

Update:

Tamada's starting weight = 83.5ks

End of week 1: Tamada = 80kgs.


So, that's a loss of 3.5kgs. I know it's only been a week but I
am starting to feel better already and a lot less bloated.

This is a great start and I must stress that I am eating plenty and
do not feel hungry at any time. As mentioned I am going low carbs
and am mainly eating tuna, other fish, meat, eggs, cheese and lots of
hot tea (with a little milk).

I've had a little fruit and veg as well. Things that I have totally cut out are
bread, rice, cake, chocolate, ice cream, pizza, alcohol.

I also went to the gym 5 times and did mainly cardio and usually spent around 90 minutes there per visit.

Anyway, I need to lose 10kgs more in order to get down to my target weight of 70kgs. I will be happy to lose 1kg per week from now on.

How is everyone else doing? Smile

Does anyone find it funny that everyone on here is obsessing about dieting and Koreans don't give a damn and are thin as twigs?

Not really. They also have a very high rate of gastro-intestinal cancer. I'd rather diet, honestly.

Look, I diet too.

But most of the country doesn't. Find the obesity rate here. It's probably the lowest out of all OECD countries. Same with Japan.

People aren't thin here because of some crazy dieting binges that they go on. They just eat moderately (in general) and eat healthy foods.

I just find it funny that we live in Korea and are obsessing about dieting when we could just be living like Koreans.

I (respectfully) totally disagree with you. You should meet my university students, aged between 19-26 years old. They are always telling me about how they won't eat this and that and how they are always on some kind of diet. I would say the guys tell me this as much as the girls!

Not all Korean food is healthy. I don't consider drinking bucket loads of beer and soju particularly healthy.....along with all of the deep fried chicken, rice cake, noodles and lots of other unhealthy junk that Koreans regularly eat.

Yes, some Korean food is healthy but that's not different to almost every other kind of cuisine.

Anyway, Let's Get Back On Topic Please!

Stats don't lie. Koreans aren't obese. And it's not because they "diet" as much as we do in the western sense. It's true that Korean diets are being invaded by western/American food culture (as is Europe), but Korean eating habits are just way healthier than most western diets.

I don't doubt that there are many university students that are concerned about what they eat. But here's my resume: I've eaten food with Korean people practically everyday for most of my life.

People at my work tend to snack a lot and eat junk, but they do it in moderation. For instance, they're not gonna sit on their couch and destroy a bag of "Flaming Hot Cheetos" in 30 minutes. Koreans are always sharing food with each other, too. It's rude not to do so.

Koreans also tend to consume a crapload of things with sugar. But they don't eat a lot of it. Koreans don't regularly drink soda either (please don't cite examples of people you know who love soda).

In general, the Korean diet is a lot healthier than any American diet. Koreans eat tons of vegetables, eat a MODERATE quantity of rice. I know it's moderate, because I usually destroy at least two bowls of rice with my meal yet an average Korean will barely finish one. All the other bad stuff Koreans eat is done in moderation and often shared. YES there is plenty of bad food here in Korea and YES Koreans often indulge in sweets, etc. But they don't eat large quantities of it.

Koreans are just used to eating less than us. As a gyopo I know this, because I eat more than any native Korean I know ^^.

Make a new thread for this. All of the Korean women in my school under 40 are on diets, thin or not.

Anyway, I'm down another .3 kilo.

Yeah, forgot to add that a lot of the Korean staff that I work with also tell me that they diet often. Then there's my friends Korean girlfriends......same same!

I'd be interested to find out. Do you think they'd report it, or hide that fact to save face? I did a lot of research on eating disorders back home after a very close friend succumbed to a few of the nastier ones (many don't just have one, but cycle between 2 or more).

Well it's Monday, so I'm weighing in. Even though I completed four 60 minute cardio sesions on a treadmill, I did not watch what I ate and I am up a pound. 161 lbs. Evidently, it's not a good idea to go to Byuribyuri for all you can eat Kalbi twice in one week.
